Sadly my time at this fantastic club has come to an end as I move onto pastures new.
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone from committee, parents, coaching team & of course the superb swimmers for making the past 3 years so enjoyable.
I will always treasure the many great memories I have & the many friendships that I have made.
The club will certainly go from strength to strength I will always keep a look out at the competition results to see how everyone is improving.
A special thank you to my right hand man Danny who has been an invaluable help to me over the years.
Another big thank you to the rest of the team, Woodley, Val, Liam, Georgina & Craig for their great efforts in making the club go forward (but not forgetting the other coaches who for one reason or another moved on, Gary, Alex & Stacey).
To the Club President, Ian Wilson, thank you very much for your wise words during my time I will certainly miss you on deck.
Lastly many thanks for the great presents, & yes, I will treasure my Sunderland Football Shirt.
All the best
Paul
Tyne & Wear Young Volunteers Project
November 2009 – April 2010
The Tyne & Wear young volunteer’s project is for any young person aged 14-18 years old from clubs, schools and local colleges. You are invited to assist with activities within a club environment and gain an insight into the role and structure and management of a voluntary aquatic sports club.

City of Sunderland swimmers are celebrating after the delayed final of the 1st Division of the Northumberland & Durham Junior League was played out to a full house at the Felling Swimming Pool.
The original final had been cancelled due to a flash flood in June at Sheffield.
After only being promoted from the 2nd Division last season the team had already accomplished it’s original target set by the coaching team of qualifying for the final and so avoid relegation by being ranked 8th and last after the 3 qualifying rounds.
The final was contested with Newcastle, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Tynemouth & Chester le Street.
It quickly became apparent that this year the team from Newcastle would be too strong but there then developed a 3 way race for a coveted runner up slot between the 2 Teeside clubs and Sunderland.
The Sunderland team however rose to the challenge with wins for the 9 years Freestyle Team (Jasmine Moss, Beth Nicholson, Elizabeth Clements & Amelia Bateman), 11 years Girls Medley Team (Laura Taylor, Georgina Lamb, Jessica Thompson & Kate Harnett) and individual wins for 10 years Alex Clements in the 50m Back in 39.01 & 10 year old Daniel Feather in the 50m Butterfly in 38.64. Also winning the 50m Butterfly for the 12yr old boys was Adam Charlton in a time of 31.83.
This enabled the team to break the 200 point mark and take 2nd place overall despite it being their first season in the top tier of junior swimming.
Final Score City of Newcastle 247
City of Sunderland 208
Stockton 180
Middlesbrough 177
Tynemouth 154
Chester le Street 95

Entries must be paid for (by cheque) on the night the gala is closing – this will usually be a Friday 4:30 – 6:00pm (for OH1 only – this will be the Thursday before 4:30 – 5:30pm). The desk will be open (where the club shop is, to take entries and payments.
If you are needing to hand in entries outside of this timescale then please ensure you put the fully completed gala entry form and cheque (not cash) in an envelope and pass to your squad manager, who will in turn pass to the competition secretary.
