Welcome to the City of Sunderland Amateur Swimming Club website.
We are based at the Sunderland Aquatic centre. Our mission is to be the Swimming Club of
choice for all communities in the Sunderland and surrounding area.
The Club aim to provide opportunities for Long Term Athlete Development
and encourages members to obtain qualifications in teaching and coaching,
attend other sport related courses, and for non-swimming members to
qualify as ASA Officials.
The Club is primarily a competitive club and members of all ages are
encouraged to participate in swimming or swimming related competitive
activities such as water polo, diving, triathlon and synchronized swimming.
The Club also recognise that swimming regularly is part of a healthy
lifestyle and we will provide opportunities for non-competitive, but coached
swimming sessions to be available.
Swimmers Shine in Greece
Following on from their impressive performances at the recent British Championships 3 swimmers from A Squad together with Head Coach Paul Hogg were selected to an England Training Camp in Greece from Sunday 5th April to Monday 13th culminating with a competition.
The 3 swimmers were Ian Hulme (Sprint), Craig Elliot (Breaststroke) and Kathryn Woolston – Thomas (Middle Distance Freestyle).
The camp in Thessalonika was divided so that each specialist stroke was overseen by an experienced international coach with Paul coaching the Distance Freestyle Group.
After an excellent week’s training in both outdoor and indoor 50m pool’s the 3 Sunderland swimmers went into the competition against the National Team members of Greece, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Barbados as well as the top Greek clubs.
Over the 2 days of competition the swimmers came away with 3 Gold, 1 Silver & 3 Bronze medals as well as a new North East Record in the 50m Butterfly for Ian Hulme (25.51).
The performances were excellent when you consider they came so early after the recent trials and so the swimmers were just beginning to get into their new training cycle as well as a fairly hard weeks training.
The medals were as follows:
Gold
Ian Hulme 50 & 100 Butterfly
Craig Elliot 100 Breast
Silver
Kathryn Woolston – Thomas 100 Free
Bronze
Ian Hulme 50 & 100 Free
Craig Elliot 50 Breast

We Need Help!
Recently help has been required in a variety of areas – we have nowhere near the number of volunteers required to continue to move the Club forward.
If you can spare us any time at all whether your skills are in selling i.e. raffles, organising i.e. parties, IT, becoming a helper around poolside or at galas, or becoming an official at galas - we are looking for a number of volunteers ..... read more
The club are seeking specific help in the roles of organising galas and social events..... read more
If you can offer support please let it be known to your squad manager or the committee.
