A total of five City of Sunderland ASC swimmers are away in Europe as part of the Great Britain Catholic Schools swimming team. The 1st day of action has brought huge success for the five representatives.
Leaving the field in his wake and setting the standard was Patrick Callen (17) who swam his way to double GOLD in the men’s 50m & 200m Breastroke in NEW GAMES RECORDS!!
Lorna Breeze (16) also collected her share of the medals for the GB team striking Silver in the Women’s 200m Butterfly as well as a silver in the 4 x 100FS Relay.
On the men’s side Patrick & Ben Herring claimed relay medals as 50% of the GB quartet in the 4 x 200FS
The 5th member of City of Sunderland 14year old Amy Brown finished 4th in the Women’s 50m Breastroke.
City of Sunderland swimmers have shown a rapid rate of improvement over the course of the 2008/9 season, which comes to a dramatic close at the annual National Championships in Sheffield.
The following are the swimmers who will be attending this year's National Age Group and Youth Championships in Sheffield. To qualify for this competition is a huge achievement and we would like to wish them the best of luck
At the ASA Age Group Championships COSASC will see four swimmers in the red and white of Sunderland at the 5 day competition which draws only the finest talent in the UK. These swimmers will be under the guidance of Age Group Coach Paul Woodley.

Following immediately after the Age Group Championships are the Youth Championships which sees a host of the programmes most talented swimmers (14-17yrs Females & 15-18yrs Males) flying the flag for COSASC. These swimmers are under the guidance of Youth coach Danny Thompson:
Ryan Robinson, Patrick Callan, Andrew Cumberlidge, Johnny Carlisle, Alex Rea, Ben Herring , Jennifer Tatters, Lorna Breeze, Eleni Papadopoulos, Alex Robinson, Danielle Huskinson and Andi Hinitt .
The youth squad shows the depth of the programme at the City of Sunderland with the Females competing in the 4 x 100Fs Relay as well as the 4 x 200Fs as well. The males will go into the meet ranked Top 10 in Great Britain in the 4 x 100Medley Relay.

Welcome to the City of Sunderland Amateur Swimming Club website.
We are based at the Sunderland Aquatic centre. Our mission is to be the Swimming Club of
choice for all communities in the Sunderland and surrounding area.
The Club aim to provide opportunities for Long Term Athlete Development
and encourages members to obtain qualifications in teaching and coaching,
attend other sport related courses, and for non-swimming members to
qualify as ASA Officials.
The Club is primarily a competitive club and members of all ages are
encouraged to participate in swimming or swimming related competitive
activities such as water polo, diving, triathlon and synchronized swimming.
The Club also recognise that swimming regularly is part of a healthy
lifestyle and we will provide opportunities for non-competitive, but coached
swimming sessions to be available.
