While large contingents of swimmers were flying the flag for City of Sunderland in the North East of England. We were busy being represented Wales at the Welsh National Disability Championships held in Swansea.
16yr old Eleni Papadouplous had an unbelievable weekend that saw her travel back to the North East with a host of Medals and Records.
Eleni started the meet as she meant to go on striking gold in the 400mFS slightly outside her best time in 5.31. Second event of the meet was 100mFLY where she again claimed gold stopping the clock in a new lifetime best of 1.22.40.
Standout performances of the weekend came in quick succession first up was the 200mIM and this was a pressure swim as Eleni needed to record a time of 2.56.5 or faster to secure a place on British Swimming World Class Programme for 2009, Eleni swept aside the competition to claim a third gold and a place on the World Class Programme for 2009.
Still on a high and with very little recovery time she was up again for the women’s 200mFly where she swam a breathtaking race to secure not only another gold and National title but also stopping the clock to break the British & European Records for the S10 Classification.
Well done to Eleni on her record breaking feats in Swansea from all of the Coaching team and swimmers at City of Sunderland ASC. |
