Gala Report – Billingham Swim To Xmas

BILLINGHAM SWIM TO XMAS

Billingham hosted the pre-Xmas gala on the 10/11th of December. Once again City of Sunderland ASC was well attended and supported.

This gala all 50m and 100m races top 6 times went to finals, there were finals for under 14s and over 15s. These are grouped together at the end of the report.

First race of the gala was,

Girls 50m breaststroke

Our most junior swimmers started off well with Eve Foster winning gold in 50.12, Holly Stoker was 5th with Millie Davis 7th and Clara Birchall 9th. Up to the 10-year group and Emily Barber was 8th.

The 11 years’ group Millie Foster in 46.29 won silver just pipping Sophie Graham who took the bronze by .05 of a second, Sophie swimming in 46.34. Jessica Ord was 6th and Mary Ellis 9th.

In the 13-year group, Grace Abbott took silver in 43.14 and in the 15 and overs Maria Birchall was 4th place. Well done to all.

Boys 50m freestyle

9 year boys Alexandru Lazar won silver medal narrowly missing gold by .4 second Alex swam in 33.59

Jacob Barnett was 7th and Oliver Dodsworth 8th. 10 year boys Luke McGee won bronze in 32.65 Alfie McGuire was 4th and Louis Bradley-Godfrey was 6th. 11 year boys, Fran Proctor was 7th and one year group up, Josh Convery was 5th. In the 15 and over group Joseph Robbins took the silver in 28.68. well done gents.

Girls 200m freestyle

Sunderland had a 1/2 in the 9-year group with Eve Foster winning gold and Millie Davis the silver in 3:03.79 and 3:04.62 respectively.  Holly Stoker was 5th and Clara Birchall 9th place.

In the 11-year group, Sunderland filled all the top 7 places. Ayumi Faulds won the gold in 2:28.42 Tilly Abbott took silver in 2:38.97 with Elyssa Palmer bronze in 2:40.08, the next 4 places were Millie Foster, Yuki Faulds, Sophie Graham and Jessica Ord.

The 12-year group Layla Trueman came 4th and one year up, Iliasa Redda won silver in 2:24.02 with Grace Abbott in 5th place. Well done to all our swimmers.

Boys 100m backstroke

9-year group, Alexandru Lazar came in for the gold in 1:23.60 with Oliver Dodsworth 6th and Jacob Barnett 7th. In the 10-year age group, Luke McGee won gold in a time of 1:19.91 with Louis Bradley-Godfrey coming in 5th place.

Girls 100m butterfly

12-year-old Layla Trueman won the silver medal in her age group in a time of 1:22.52

Iliasa Redda also won silver in a time of 1:16.57 in the 13 year girls, Maria Birchall in the 15s and over equalled the other two girls winning silver with a time of 1:18.26, well done ladies.

Boys 200m IM

Ten-year-old Alfie McGuire won gold in 2:57.09 in the 11-year group, Fran Proctor was 8th place. 12-year-old Josh Convery won the bronze in a time of 2:54.59 in his age group. And in the 15s and over Joseph Robbins won gold in a time of 2:30.07 well done guys.

Girls 200m backstroke

9-year-old Holly Stoker won the bronze medal in 3.44.29, well done Holly.

Up to the 11s group, 4 out of the top 5 for Sunderland. Ayumi Faulds winning gold in 2.48.55 with Elyssa Palmer silver in 2:58.67, Yuki Faulds was 4th in 3.05.28 and Tilly Abbott was 5th well done ladies.

Boys 50m butterfly

9-year group, Jacob Barnett was 6th and Oliver Dodsworth 7th. Up to the tens and Luke McGee won bronze in a time of 36.59 with Alfie McGuire 4th Louis Bradley-Godfrey was 6th 11 years’ group Fran Proctor was 9th and Josh Convery won bronze in the 12s in a time of 36.28. In the over 15s Joseph Robbins won the gold in 31.29. well done to all.

Girls 50m backstroke

In the 9 year olds, Millie Davis just missed out on bronze coming 4th in a time of 45.97 and Clara Birchall was 8th place.  The 10 year girls had Emily Barber coming in 9th place. Up a year and Elyssa Palmer won the silver medal in a time of 40.35 with Millie Foster just pipping her team mate Yuki Faulds to 4th place with Yuki 5th and Tilly Abbott 6th. Mary Ellis was also in the top ten.

Layla Trueman in the 12-year group was 6th and in the 13s Iliasa Redda won the silver medal in 34.60.

Maria Birchall in the 15s and over also won the silver medal in a time of 35.98 seconds. Well done ladies.

Boys 100m breaststroke

Alexandru Lazar showed his prowess winning another gold in the 9-year group in a time of 1:44.44

Oliver Dodsworth was 4th and Jacob Barnett 5th place.

The 10-year-old boys had Alfie McGuire win silver in 1:35.60 with Louis Bradley Godfrey one down on the podium taking bronze in 1:48.80, Luke McGee was 6th. Moving up to the 11s Fran Proctor was 8th and Josh Convery in the 12s won gold in a time of 1:32.01 The 15 and overs saw Joseph Robbins win bronze in 1:21.07, well done to all.

Girls 100m freestyle

Our junior swimmers at the gala continued to impress with Eve Foster and Millie Davis coming 1st and second, Eve took the gold in 1:25.59 narrowly beating Millie to silver in 1:25.94, great race girls. Holly Stoker was 7th in the group.

Emily Barber in the 10-year group came in 13th place.

In the 11s Ayumi Faulds continued her medal tally winning the silver in 1:09.03 Millie Foster took bronze in a time of 1:13.06, Sunderland’s girls filled the next 5 places with Tilly Abbott, Elyssa Palmer, Yuki Faulds, Jessica Ord, and Sophie Graham.  Emily Barber came in 13th place.  The 12 year girls Layla Trueman swam well to finish 6th, and in the 13s Iliasa Redda won silver in 1:06.83 with Grace Abbott 4th. The 15 and over Ana Lazar won silver and Maria Birchall bronze in respective times of 1:05.71 and 1:07.01. Great swimming from the Sunderland girls.

Girls 200m breaststroke

Again our 9-year-old girls show good promise with Eve Foster winning silver in 3:56.35 and Holly Stoker 4th with Clara Birchall 6th place.

In the 11 years Sunderland had a 123 with Ayumi Faulds taking first place and so gold in 3:19.46, Jessica Ord won silver in 3:29.38 and Sophie Graham bronze in 3:29.96

The 13-year-old girls had Grace Abbott win the silver in 3:16.06. well done to all.

Boys 50m breaststroke.

9-year-old Oliver Dodsworth won gold in a great time of 46.37, in the older 10 year boys, Louis Bradley-Godfrey won silver in 43.23 while Alfie McGuire was 3rd place winning the bronze in 43.68.

The 11 year boys Arran Robinson won bronze in 46.42 with Fran Proctor 4th place. In the 12 year boys, Josh Convery was 5th place. Well done guys.

Girls 50m freestyle

Starting off again with our youngest swimmers in the 9-year age group, Eve Foster won bronze in 38.28 while Millie Davis was 4th only .17 behind Eve. Holly stoker was 7th with Clara Birchall 12th and Lucy Whitfield in 16th place.

In the 10-year group, Anna Whelan was 7th with Emily Barber in 15th place.

The 11 year girls for Sunderland had 9 places in the top 15.

Ayumi Faulds was second winning silver in 31.98 Tilly Abbott bronze in 32.94, Millie Foster 4th, Elyssa Palmer 5th, Sophie Graham 8th and Jess Ord 9th. Heather Robinson, Mary Ellis and Millie Whitfield were all in the top 15.

The 13-year age group, Grace Abbott was 4th and in the 15 and over group, Ana Lazar won gold in 30.15 with Maria Birchall silver in 30.21. well done to all the girls.

Boys 200m freestyle

A 3-4-5—for Sunderland’s boys with Alexandru Lazar in bronze medal position swimming a time of 2:47.82, Jacob Barnet was 4th in 3:03.66 with Oliver Dodsworth in 5th place, Olly swam in 3:11.18.

Up to the tens and Luke McGee won gold in 2:30.83 with Alfie McGuire in 4th place. In the 11 year boys, Fran Proctor was 5th with Arran Robinson coming in 9th place.

Josh Convery in the 12 year olds came in 4th and in the 15s Joseph Robbins won the silver medal in 2:12.48

Girls 100m backstroke

9 year olds Eve Foster just missed out on the bronze coming fourth by only .03 of a second, grow your finger nails a bit longer Eve!

Millie Davis and Holly Stoker were 7th and 8th respectively and young Clara Birchall was 11h.

In the 10s, Riona Sorianosis won gold in 1:21.15.

The older 11 year girls saw Yuki Faulds winning bronze in a time of 1:28.72 and Heather Robinson, Mary Ellis and Millie Whitfield in 10,11 and 12th place.

Iliasa Redda in the 13-year group won silver in 1:13.34, well done to all.

Boys 100m butterfly

Jacob Barnet won a deserved silver in 1:39.91 in the younger group, and in the ten-year olds, Luke McGee won gold in 1:22.45, Joseph Robbins was our only other medal winner in this event winning silver in the 15 and overs with a time of 1:11.43 well done men.

Girls 200m IM

Ten-year-old Riona Sorianosis was 5th and Anna Whelan 8th place well done girls.

In the 11 year olds, Ayumi Faulds showed power in all strokes to win gold by over 12 seconds swimming a time of 2:46.74 brilliant Ayumi.

Millie Foster won the bronze medal in 3:04.54 after Millie Sunderland had the next 5 places with Tilly Abbott, Yuki Faulds, Sophie Graham, Jess Ord and Elyssa Palmer.

The 13-year-old girls Iliasa Redda won silver in 2:42.06 with Grace Abbott in 4th place.

Maria Birchall in the over 15s won bronze in 2:43.69 well done to all the girls.

Boys 200m backstroke

Sunderland’s young star Alexandru Lazar won gold in the 9-year group in 2:56.49 while in the 10s, Louis Bradley-Godfrey won the silver medal in 3:05.05, well done guys.

Girls 50m butterfly

Big smiling 9-year-old Millie Davis came in 4th place and Clara Birchall was 9th in the younger group. The 10 year olds Riona Sorianosis was 4th place and Anna Whelan was 9th place.

Up to the 11-year-old girls, and Ayumi Faulds won silver in a time of 34.83, Tilly Abbott won bronze in 37.07 with Millie Foster in 4th place. Sunderland girls also swimming well in 7,8,9 and 10th place for Yuki Faulds, Sophie Graham, Jess Ord, and Elyssa Palmer and Heather Robinson was 12th and Mary Ellis 16th place.

Iliasa Redda and Grace Abbott in the 13-year group were 2nd and 3rd in times of 33.22 and 35.30. in the over 15s Maria Birchall won silver and Ana Lazar bronze in times of 33.46 and 33.65. well done ladies.

Boys 50m backstroke

That man’s back, Alexandru Lazar gold in 37.61 with Jacob Barnett 6th and Oliver Dodsworth 7th. Ten year olds Luke McGee won gold in 36.92 with Louis Bradley–Godfrey in 5th place. Great swims lads.

Girls 100m breaststroke

Eve Foster won the gold in the 9-year-old girls in a time of 1.50.30 with young Holly Stoker winning a great bronze in 1.57.09. Millie Davis was 5th and Clara Birchall 7th.

The ten-year-old girls Riona Sorianosis won silver in 1:41.23 with Anna Whelan in 7th and Emily Barber in 12th place.

The 11 year girls were lead home by Sophie Graham winning bronze in 1:38.57, Jess Ord 5th and Millie Foster 6th, Heather Robinson, Tilly Abbott and Yuki Faulds were 8,9 and 10th.  With Millie Whitfield in 13th and Mary Ellis 15th place.

Our 13 year olds Iliasa Redda again won silver in a time of 1:30.13 with Grace Abbott 4th place. Well done girls.

Boys 100m freestyle

Alexandru Lazar was 4th and Jacob Barnett 5th in the 9 years’ group.

Ten-year-old Luke McGee won gold with Alfie McGuire 4th and Louis Bradley-Godfrey in 5th place.

Fran Proctor was our highest placed 11-year-old in 8th followed by Arran Robinson in 9th.

Josh Convery in 1:10.50 won the silver medal in the 12-year-old boys. And Joseph Robbins won gold in the 15s and over in a time of 1:01.50 well done men.

Iliasa Redda won silver in 1:15.18 with Layla Trueman in a credible 5th

Iliasa Redda came 5th in a time of 1:28.54

 

So ends the 2016 galas for Sunderland. The squad is always moving forward and we all look forward to a successful 2017. The next gala for Sunderland is Peterlee and Derwentside on the 7th and 8th January.
