New Lead Junior Coach Appointed

City of Sunderland ASC is proud to unveil Ken Nesworthy as its new Lead Junior Coach Swimming, taking over the reins from the beginning of the new season September 2018.

 
Following the departure of Emma Hughes to pastures new, Nesworthy will be able to hit the ground running in his new role, stepping up from Head Coach with the Gateshead & Wickham Programme.
Nesworthy has a wealth of National experience, having previously been Head Coach at South Tyneside ASC and Head of Swimming at Sandhill Academy in Sunderland . A highly successful coach with a consistent track record of producing National swimmers, Ken has been part of the coaching staff at International and National levels from youth right through to senior level.
Ken has already coached multiple swimmers who’ve set British and English records, and will join head coach Danny Thompson in the programme as a Mussanbiani Medal holder and a member of the Uk Coaching Hall of Fame. He will look to continue this good work whilst heading up the Junior programme at COSASC.
 
Of his new role Nesworthy said:
 
I am delighted to be offered the position of Lead Junior Coach here at Sunderland, following in the footsteps of some outstanding coaches.
 
My aims for the programme going forward are to ensure we continue the legacy of being the dominant force in County Regional and National Swimming, whilst continuing to develop a seamless pathway to develop world class athletes and results, We are excited at the vision and plans moving forwards to enhance the links across the city with the local education authority with a clear development focus across Primary and Secondary Schools that will in turn ensure we continue to thrive at both a domestic and international level.This will backed up by world class coaching and high performance support systems.
