ASA Team Manager Training – UPDATED

As part of our Development we are hosting a CPD course as we look at developing our support staff for Training Camps,Galas and In House events.We will be running

ASA Team Manager Training Course:

Sunderland Aquatic Center

Saturday 21st September

12.15 – 2.00pm

CANDIDATE PRE REQUISITE

Minimum age for attendees for Module 1 is 14 years old (under 18’s will be qualified to undertake an assistant team manager role). For Module 2 minimum age for attendees is 18 years old and that they have undertaken module 1.

Role Objectives:

The Team Manager is responsible for the logistics, administration and coordination of teams
to/from and during a competition or training event. A Team Manager generally is a central
point of information and communication, and the expectation by all team members
(including athletes’ and coaches) is that the Team Manager will be the person with this
knowledge. A Team Manager should report to the Head coach or chairperson within the
club.

ï‚· Well organised and efficient
ï‚· Knowledge of the club and athletes (as appropriate)
ï‚· Excellent communicator
ï‚· Understanding and impartial
ï‚· Ability to respect confidentiality
ï‚· Ability to make decisions based upon the best interests of individuals and teams
ï‚· Able to work on own initiative

Duties and Responsibilities:

ï‚· To provide a central point of contact/liaison point for communication on behalf of the
team
ï‚· To attend pre-competition/camp briefings as required
ï‚· To arrange all team travel, travel itineraries and accommodation (where required)
ï‚· To provide information to athletes, coaches, parents/guardians as appropriate
ï‚· To undertake team selections (if appropriate and in consultation with others)
ï‚· To ensure provision for athletes to arrive at appropriate time at venues
 To ensure athletes’ are appropriately registered for their events in association with
coaching staff
ï‚· To organise team kit (as appropriate)
ï‚· To prepare and submit results to press officer/media (as appropriate)
ï‚· To promote positive team spirit and behaviors
ï‚· To adopt the policies and principles of the ASA Child Protection policy
ï‚· To prepare post competition/event reports (as appropriate)
Role Details:
This is a voluntary role.
Time commitment required will vary depending upon the nature of the competition/event,
but would involve planning and preparation in advance and then attendance at
competition/event as appropriate. Additional time commitment may be required in preparing
reports/evaluations post event
