South Tyneside ASC Sprint Meet 2014 – Report

This meet was held at South Tyneside’s brand new pool, Haven Point.  Twenty swimmers from City of Sunderland’s Junior Silver and Gold and Age Group Development Squads took part in the one day sprint meet.  For many this was their first taste of competitive swimming and it was great to see so many of the newer members of the club taking part.

Bronze medals were won by Gemma Sproates, aged ten, and eleven year olds Luke Pye and Nadia Loughlin.  Gemma won her medal in the 50m backstroke event while Luke came third in the 50m breaststroke.  Nadia was third in the 50m butterfly.  All set new personal best times as did the remainder of the squad taking part.

Making their debut was: nine year old Ella Harrison and Layla Trueman, ten year old Madeleine Smith, eleven year old Millie Harrison and Benjamin Milford and twelve year old Daniel Hepple. Hopefully we will be able to report on many successes in the future for these swimmers!
