Volunteers Urgently Required!

The club is very short on volunteers and any help, whether it is for the odd hour here and there or for a more extensive and/or regular commitment will be very much welcomed. The effective running of the club relies almost solely on volunteers.

There is a very long list of areas where the club needs your help and there is hopefully a role that you will feel able to contribute to in some way. The following list provides a flavour of the type of areas where your help is required:

Committee Vacancies

  • Meet Manager (from January 2015) – works closely with the Work force Manager and is the first point of contact for visiting clubs and officials.  Responsible for ensuring that the tasks and resources required in the lead up to and on the gala days of a home meet are in place.
  • Work Force Manager – co-ordinate the resources required to staff a home gala and to be a point of contact for sourcing Gala Officials for away galas
  • Fund Raising Manager – to co-ordinate fundraising for the club including sponsorship and grant applications

Gala Officials and Volunteers

  • Timing Room Volunteers
  • Time Keepers and Judges – please get in touch if you are interested in training for these roles.  There are opportunities to do so at the Firecracker Meet
  • Marshalls
  • Door Keepers
  • Runners
  • Club race night volunteers – an excellent way to get a first taste of time keeping!
  • Gala reporting – help needed to write reports for the website and local press, particularly for the Junior Squad galas.

General Help

Whilst the majority of the committee roles are currently filled all roles would benefit from additional support. Thus legal, PR, management, marketing, advertising, financial, retail, business, fund raising, reporting, mediation, mentoring and organisational skills – in fact just about any skill gained in a non-swimming environment can be transferred to help the club.

How to volunteer

If you can help or would like more information please contact any member of the club’s committee, your squad manager, or coach. It doesn’t matter if you can only help at one event or can just offer the odd hour here and there – all offers of help will be appreciated and put to good use.
