URGENT MESSAGE – Suspension of Training

Dear Parents, Athletes and Carers,

We are in unprecedented times which is resulting in unprecedented measures therefore, in light of the closure of schools from today and the imminent closure of the centre we have taken the decision to suspend all club training with immediate effect for the foreseeable future.

We are working with coaches around developing some land training exercises for swimmers in each squad along with a plan for coaches to have weekly contact with every swimmer around their exercise plans and healthy eating options to help maintain a level of fitness in readiness to return to the training programme once we are in a position to do so.

We want everyone to stay safe and this proposed regular phone contact with coaches alongside land training exercises is to help our swimmers maintain their well-being.

As there is no pool provision available for the foreseeable future we are conscious of the financial impact on the club and although we would not asking for swimmers to continue to pay their usual monthly squad contributions we would ask everyone who would like to retain their place in the club / squad to pay a monthly fee of £25 per month to help the club financially retain our coaches. If anyone does not want to pay this monthly fee to retain their place and receive land training / weekly coach call please inform your coaches and the membership team so we can remove you from the distribution lists.

Therefore please could I ask that next month you amend your standing order to pay the amended fee till further notice. For those swimmers who have outstanding fees owed to the club please can we ask that you continue to pay the full monthly squad fee whilst we are away from the pool.

We will be asking coaches to communicate via email to you all next week around their squad land training plans and phone contact. Please note all land training would be undertaken in your own home as per the social distancing guidance’s set by the government.

Martin Luther King Junior said “we all came in on different ships, but we are all in the same boat now”! – Stay safe….

Please note that the centre will be closed from 10pm this evening and not accessible till further notice.

Kindest Regards

Linda
