Club Update

Dear Parents, Athletes & Carers,

I hope you are all remaining safe and well during these unprecedented times. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have continued to pay the £25 contribution towards the club during these very difficult and uncertain times.

We have furloughed a number of key staff however we are still incurring staffing costs for the Coaches who are working to provide the current training programme to you all and that contribution helps towards some of those current expenditures.

After taking some time to settle into the new training programme, we are now at a point where we are ready for the next phase of development. We are pleased to announce that we will be rolling out the next phase of training for those members who continue to contribute that monthly fee to the club – this is a move towards a fully comprehensive programme.

In order for the Coaching Team to increase their contact time with the athletes we will be moving to online monitored sessions for the athletes to undertake. We will be utilising the Zoom video platform to enable the volume of traffic and access that we require.

In order for us to ensure that all our members have access to a safe environment there have been a series of safeguarding sessions that have been implemented and will need to be adhered to in order to gain access to the sessions.

Please note that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) information will be available on the Microsoft Teams platform from Monday 20th April which will allow athletes and parents to familiarise themselves and additionally ask any questions ahead of our first sessions planned for Wednesday 22nd April.

During these challenging times, the coaching team is working extremely hard to ensure that our athletes work their way towards a healthy, sustainable programme outside the pool that reflects their goals and ambitions. As I am sure you can appreciate, this is an ever changing landscape with athletes making gains and moving forwards at a rapid rate and we will continue to evolve and respond to this to ensure that they are receiving the best possible Individual Training Programmes.

If any of you have any questions around your training or the use of the Zoom platform please feel free to contact either Danny Thompson (dannythompson@cityofsunderlandasc.co.uk) or Chris Ferriter (chrisferriter@cityofsunderlandasc.co.uk).

Thank you all in advance for your ongoing support and commitment to our club – it is greatly appreciated.

Kindest Regards

Linda Reiling
