ESSA Inter-Divisional Championships 2013 – Gala Report

This year’s ESSA (English Schools Swimming Association) Inter-Divisional Championships were held at the Liverpool Aquatic Centre. An Impressive six swimmers were selected from the City of Sunderland’s Performance Squad to represent the North –East Division (NED), one of eight divisions competing from all over England.  After a highly competitive weekend of swimming, the NED finished in second place behind the North-West Division.  The NED also collected the winning trophy in the Senior Boys Category.

Representing COSASC:  Jennifer Tatters, Lida Abrie, Adam Taylor, Emma Sinclair all competing in the Senior Age Group, Lucy Walton, who competed in the Intermediate Age Group and Freya Rayner who competed as a Junior.  The results for our swimmers were as follows:

Jennifer, 2nd in the 400m freestyle, Lida, 6th in the 200m breaststroke and 7th in the 100m breaststroke, Adam, 1st in the 100m backstroke and 4th in the 200m backstroke, Emma, 2nd in the 100m butterfly and 3rd in the 400 I/M, Lucy, 3rd in the 400I/M and 5th in the 200m backstroke, Freya, 2nd in the 100m backstroke.

These championships provided an exciting opportunity for our swimmers to compete as a team and to swim against the best in England.
